In a sense you are in a group now, albeit an on line group. I live in New Zealand. My wife has dementia. The local Alzheimer’s society runs a weekly coffee morning in the various cafés nearby. I find this really helpful, just being with others in an informal setting, knowing that the others at the table are on the same journey, are dealing with similar issues, is supportive in itself. We do not talk much about the dementia etc, but general chat…how was Xmas, beautiful weather today, we are seeing our grandchildren soon, this cake is nice etc etc.. But just sitting shoulder to shoulder knowing that we are not alone dealing with this, that everyone at the coffee morning is in the same boat, I find surprisingly helpful. So maybe there is an idea for you there.
