Carers in Hertfordshire hosts a team of Admiral Nurses in partnership with Dementia UK as part of Hertfordshire's Dementia Service. The Nurses support people who provide unpaid care or help to a relative or someone close to them with dementia. The Nurses give carers/family members one-to-one tailored support, expert guidance and practical solutions if they request assistance or when things are challenging or difficult. Ways they help include providing advice on stress management or dealing with symptoms like distressed behaviour or sleep problems, discussing medication and planning for the future. The Nurses receive ongoing training and support.
Who is this service for?
- Either the carer or the person they are supporting must live in Hertfordshire or be registered with a Hertfordshire GP
- People providing unpaid care or support to someone with dementia or memory concerns
