GPs urged to 'prescribe activity' for people with common conditions
GPs are being urged to 'prescribe movement' to patients with some of the most common conditions, including dementia. Read a comment from Alzheimer's Society.
Dr James Pickett, Head of Research at Alzheimer’s Society, said:
We’re pleased that GPs are supporting people with dementia to stay active.
'Just because someone has dementia it shouldn’t mean they are robbed of all opportunity to take part in exercise or other activities. Like everyone, people with dementia should have choice.
'Only through research will we understand how to cure, prevent and slow down dementia. We owe it to the 850,000 people in the UK living with dementia to understand the condition better, so that they can live better.'
