'My advice to anyone contemplating taking on a challenge - don’t waste time thinking that you can’t do it, aren’t fit enough, wouldn’t be able to raise the money... because, whatever you put your mind to, you can achieve.' - Judith

‘Walking around the world sounds bonkers but it is actually quite doable - I hope to walk 20 miles a day. It will take, and this is very much a guesstimate, three and a half years.' - Tom

The difference your fundraising can make

Your walk or trek could have a life-changing impact for people affected by dementia:

£100 can provide our lab with 269 DNA duplicators. DNA samples are often incredibly small. However, researchers can use a DNA duplicator to help copy the DNA strands, giving researchers larger samples to study.

£250 can fund the work of a Telephone Dementia Adviser for two days. Open seven days a week, the Dementia Connect Support Line is there for people whenever they need it. Dementia Advisers will provide a listening ear, specialist guidance, and support people in accessing services that are right for them.

£500 can cover the funds of registering 13 people with our Dementia Voice platform. This means they can tell their story, their way. Whether this is through campaigning work, speaking at events, or sharing their experiences in media, this platform means people have a better understanding of life with dementia.

With muddy feet and a full heart, your trekking adventures will help provide life-changing support to everyone living with dementia now and in the future.
