The challenge

Trek for loved ones and bring help and hope to everyone living with dementia. Explore the rural landscape of the Cotswolds as you trek through ancient woodlands, wildflower meadows and historic Cotswold stone villages.

It was a fantastic experience from start to finish, I loved every moment of it. All of the volunteers were full of energy and support, which was exactly what I needed in the final miles! ... Will definitely be back next time.

The route

Starting Location: Cheltenham

Both routes start at Postlip Farm and begin on footpaths to reach Langley Hill, before descending into the village of Gretton. The routes will take you under the bridges of the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway and through the picturesque village of Gotherington. You'll undergo a steep woodland climb before reaching Cleeve Common in the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The 13 mile route has a short section on the Common, along the Cotswolds Way. Here the 13 mile route will return to the finish, whilst the 26 mile route continues onto the steep section of Cleeve Common, reaching the highest point in the Cotswolds at 330m, with wonderful views over Cheltenham and the Malvern Hills. Continuing through the precious habitats of the Common, the route joins a section of the Winchcombe Way before heading south towards Sevenhampton. The route passes through the grounds of Sudeley Castle, before joining the Cotswolds Way to the finish.

Not a trekker? Find out more about volunteering

You can still do something incredible and make a difference to people affected by dementia.

We will be looking for enthusiastic volunteers to cheer our trekkers over the finish line. We'll kit you out with an Alzheimer's Society t-shirt and provide you with everything you need to give our trekkers an amazing event day experience.

You'll help to set them on their way to raising even more money to change the lives of people affected by dementia. And we can guarantee you'll have a great time!
