I remember going to an event at Fulham FC's Cottage where a number of mainly men (and importantly their families) met and the club had provided some footy related memorabilia. I will never forget speaking to a lovely ex-Spurs player who would start telling about some game he had played and would then suddenly stop and apologise because he could not remember his former team mate's names. When I then picked up an obviously old pair of football boots and mentioned how I used to 'dubbin' them as a youngster he suddenly came to life as we discussed the old footy equipment' Later his daughter thanked me as she said she had seen her dad's eyes suddenly sparkle at that time!
