A commissioners’ guide to involvement
We co-produced this guide with 20 commissioners from across the UK and people living with dementia. It provides commissioners with the tools, tips and knowledge to involve people with lived experience in their work.
A commissioners’ guide to involvement
It is the role of commissioners to involve people in service planning and evaluation.
In England, The Health and Social Care Act 2012 requires all NHS Trusts, Primary Care Trusts and Strategic Health Authorities to consult with and involve people in service planning and evaluation.
One of the fundamental principle of The Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 is co-production. The Act provides the legal framework for improving the well-being of people who need care and support, and carers who need support, and for transforming social services in Wales.
And in Northern Ireland, patient experience and Involvement has been part of health and social care policy in Northern Ireland since 2007 and became law two years later with the introduction of the Health and Social Care Reform Act (2009).
