Alzheimer's Society responds to Sir Bobby Charlton's diagnosis and Sir Tom Hunter's generous donation

Kate Lee, Chief Executive Officer at Alzheimer’s Society said:

'The 850,000 people with dementia and their families have been worst hit by coronavirus – devastatingly thousands have died and many more have been badly affected by the isolating effects of lockdown, in the community as well as care homes.

'Like many charities, our fundraising income has taken a significant knock so we’re so very grateful to our supporters who have dug deep at a time when so many are struggling, to help raise awareness and vital funds. This has meant we can continue to be there for people affected by dementia when they need us most through our Dementia Connect support line.

We're sending our thoughts to Sir Bobby Charlton and his family following the announcement that Sir Bobby is living with dementia. This helps so much to shine further light on the condition, for which we are hugely thankful.
