Charity pays tribute to former president Sir Jonathan Miller CBE
Alzheimer's Society pay tribute to former President, Sir Jonathan Miller CBE who sadly passed away today from Alzheimer’s disease.
Jeremy Hughes, CEO at Alzheimer’s Society said:
It is with great sadness that we hear of the passing of our President Emeritus, Sir Jonathan Miller CBE. He became Alzheimer’s Society’s President in 1984 and showed true dedication in his role until the early 2000s when he retired.
“Using his profile and media presence, he helped make great strides in raising awareness of dementia. He put Alzheimer’s disease firmly on the political agenda, ensuring that it was included in future planning in the NHS. He also recruited a number of high profile ambassadors - playing a major part in raising the prominence of dementia and the work of Alzheimer’s Society.
“Having seen Jonathan just a few weeks ago, it was inspiring to see how helping to found Alzheimer’s Society remained an important memory even though he was living with advanced Alzheimer’s disease. In his honour we will maintain all our efforts to create a world without dementia.”
