Volunteers at an event with Alzheimer's Society
Become a cheer volunteer

As an Alzheimer’s Society cheerer, it’s your job to make as much noise as you can when our incredible runners and cyclists pass our support stations. You really can make all the difference when it comes to helping our team to reach the finish line!

Our upcoming events are:

  • Brighton Half Marathon - Sunday 2nd March 2025
  • London Landmarks Half Marathon - Sunday 6th April 2025
  • Brighton Marathon - Sunday 6th April 2025
  • TCS London Marathon - Sunday 27th April
  • adidas Manchester Marathon -  Sunday 27th April 2025

When you volunteer at an event as part of team Alzheimer's Society, you are helping us to get one step closer to a world without dementia by supporting all of our amazing fundraisers. This support is so incredibly important, but don’t just take our word for it.

See what some of our past runners have to say about our cheer points.

'The cheer point at 5 miles honestly revived me, I was thinking about stopping to walk but it felt like it gave me new legs, it was a huge huge help!'

'Coming down the last mile with the crowd shouting out my name has to be one of the most emotional moments ever . Knowing that I was running in my Dad's memory so hopefully other family's will have support, made it even more special'

'Excellent support from the Alzheimer's team all round, I had a wonderful experience. I've never run a half marathon before but the cheers from the cheer bus kept me going, in memory of my father who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's before he passed away and I feel I have given something back and would love to go through all the pain again to support charity, afterwards you feel great to think you have done something to help others.'

'What a wonderful experience supporting the runners supporting this fantastic cause. You could see how our cheers and shout lifted the runners for the last half mile. Brilliant!'

'Alzheimer's Cheer Teams have supported me the last two years while running past, giving me the boost needed to finish the Great North Run. Unable to run this year, decided I would return the support to those running. Very emotional day, loved being able to shout, whistle, make as much noise at possible to keep everyone going.'

'I took my grandchildren to cheer on their mummy who was running for Alzheimer's Society. They loved the sponge hands and clappers they were given and had a fab time trying to spot Alzheimer's running vests and call out names. We had a lovely day supporting all the Alzheimer's runners not just mummy look forward to doing the same again next year.'
