Tick for Gift Aid

Changing your Gift Aid preference is simple. One tick could make a huge difference to people affected by dementia. For every £1 we raise, the government contributes an additional 25p through Gift Aid.

Your Gift Aid support today could help your previous donations stretch that bit further, to give a little extra help to people like Pete.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid is a government scheme that allows charities to claim back the tax that you’ve already paid on your donations. That’s why anyone who pays tax in the UK is eligible for Gift Aid. It won’t cost you a penny, but it will boost your previous and future donations to Alzheimer’s Society by 25%.

How do I update my preference?

To update your preference, all you need to do is click on either button at the top or bottom of this page and follow the instructions on the form. Once you have completed the form, that's it! Your preference will be updated in our records.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible for Gift Aid?

If you’re a UK taxpayer, you’re almost certainly eligible for Gift Aid. You don’t have to be employed; if you pay tax on a pension, Capital Gains, Jobseeker’s allowance or any savings you can still Gift Aid. Just make sure however much you donate, you’ve paid the same amount or more in tax in that year.

What if I pay a higher rate of tax?

We still claim 25% even if you pay a higher rate of tax. But if you let HMRC know what you donate, you should be able to claim back some tax, or even pay less PAYE tax – which might mean you could afford to donate a little extra.

Do I have to do anything for Alzheimer’s Society to claim Gift Aid for donations I’ve already made?

Just tick the box by completing the online form to let us know you’re eligible for Gift Aid – that’s it. We’ll then claim back the basic rate tax you’ve already paid on your donations from the government.

Do I have to donate for a fixed amount of time for Alzheimer’s Society to claim Gift Aid?

No. We can claim Gift Aid on both one-off and regular donations. And all are greatly appreciated.
