The challenge
On this iconic London to Brighton Cycle Ride, leave the buzz of the city behind and join thousands of fellow cyclists as you face the challenge of a 55-mile journey on two wheels, from the heart of London to the buzzing Brighton seafront!
The route
Once out of London you will predominantly cycle along quiet lanes passing through Mitcham, Carshalton, Chipstead, Banstead and Haywards Heath before taking on the challenge that is Ditchling Beacon - a mile long climb to the top of the South Downs where you will be rewarded with amazing views and a water break! From there it's downhill for the last few miles onto Brighton sea front.
Fundraising
By signing up to this challenge we ask that you commit to raising a minimum sponsorship of £150 per person.
I've done three London to Brighton cycle rides for Alzheimer's Society and they've always been wonderful to support. Very smooth organisation.

Frequently asked questions
The London to Brighton cycle ride is challenging but achievable. In order to maximise your enjoyment you do need to train and get out on your bike before the ride! Training plans will be provided.
We recommend you have a well-serviced bike – it doesn't need to be carbon–framed or anything special but it should be comfortable and well maintained. As well as your bike it is essential you have a helmet.
It's up to you whether you carry a bag with you but we recommend this is fixed to your bike (search for 'bike panniers' online) rather than worn on your back which can become very tiring.
You will need to be 16 or over but there is no upper age limit. However all participants of whatever age should ensure they are fit enough to take part in the event. If you are in any doubt, check with your doctor.
Transport for both yourself, by coach, and your bike, bubble wrapped in a van, is optionally available for £50. You will be able to book this after you have registered your place for the ride.
There will be four stationary mechanic points, at the start, at the morning and afternoon water points and at lunch
If you experience difficulties in between those points, Skyline will also have roaming mechanics – just give them a call.
You can order your cycling jersey when you complete your registration form or by emailing [email protected] with your size. You can order in sizes XS to XXL.
