How our corporate partners work with us

From raising vital funds and awareness to making real change within businesses for people with dementia, Alzheimer’s Society’s corporate partners are crucial in helping us achieve our vision of a world without dementia.

Alzheimer's Society proudly partners with companies from a range of sectors. Below are some examples of how we work together.

Vistry Group and Alzheimer's Society

Vistry Group colleagues have chosen Alzheimer’s Society as their charity of the year for 2023. Throughout this year colleagues are aiming to raise £250,000 to provide help and hope for those affected by dementia.

What we have planned for 2023

  • Throughout the year Vistry Group colleagues will be taking on various fundraising challenges to reach their fundraising target. Alongside organising their own activities including golf days, sweepstakes, raffles and bake sales colleagues will be taking on some of our challenges, including our Glow Walks and Trek26.
  • The flagship fundraising activity of the year will take place in September to mark World Alzheimer’s Day and the team are busy planning this challenge which will see colleagues challenge to climb the equivalent of Mount Everest over a week.

We are excited to see what we achieve together throughout the year.

Greg Fitzgerald Chief Executive of Vistry Group says:

'Here at Vistry Group we are proud to be partnering with the Alzheimer’s Society in their activities as a vital source of support and a powerful force for change for everyone affected by dementia – a disease which affects the lives of so many people, whether directly or through the experiences of friends and loved ones.'

'Our people are always up for the challenge when it comes to raising funds and this year will see an exciting range of events and activities across the group – some of which I will no doubt be participating in myself – as we look to raise awareness and fund-raise towards our £250k target.'

Howden Group Holdings and Alzheimer's Society

In 2019, Alzheimer’s Society launched our partnership with Howden Group Holdings and we are delighted the partnership is still going strong.

Howden Group Holdings employees have been working together to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Society, to help raise awareness of our work and to engage with local communities to support those living with dementia.

To date, their incredible employees have fundraised over £220,000.

What we are achieving together

  • In 2022, Howden Group Holdings launched their ‘2 days volunteering in 2022’, a campaign for everyone to take time to volunteer and fundraise for the partnership, including Companion Calls, treks and static triathlons.
  • Each year the partnership is celebrated with charity balls. The Masquerade Ball and The Magical Ball together raised over £80,000.
  • Howden Group Holding’s Companion Callers have made a tremendous difference to their caller’s lives, with support and friendship.

What's next?

Howden Group Holdings’ teams across the UK will continue to support dementia research and support our campaigns. Lots of fundraising activities are planned, including a Sahara Trek which will see 30 senior leaders and employees trek hundreds of miles with the hope of raising over £30,000.

The company continues to encourage their employees to become Dementia Friends through a bespoke e-learning module.

Sara Heald, CSR & Sustainability Manager for Howden UK, comments:

I am so proud of our partnership with Alzheimer’s Society, to help tackle dementia.

'I believe in bringing people together with a common cause and supporting our communities where we live and work.'

'We have built a strong relationship with a charity that truly represents our brand and through challenging times, our employees have come together to raise a tremendous amount of money.'

Topps Tiles colleagues chose Alzheimer’s Society as their charity partner at the end of 2021. Over the next 5 years we are aiming to raise £1 million for families affected by dementia through our partnership. In 2022, Topps Tiles raised over £100,000 for the Society.

What we are achieving so far

Topps Tiles have embraced fundraising for Alzheimer’s Society and in 2022 had their most successful summer of fundraising to date, with lots of fundraising taking place including:

  • Over 60 colleagues taking on Tour de Topps during the first two weeks of August. Colleagues were challenged to cover as many miles as possible, by walking, cycling or running and to raise a minimum of £65 each. They smashed their target, raising over £10,000!
  • A team from Topps Tiles head office in Leicester took part in our Peak District Trek26, trekking 26miles on one of the hottest weekends of the year raising over £5,500
  • During World Alzheimer’s Month a group of 10 daredevil colleagues from the Northwest took on a skydive raising over £5,000

Topps Tiles also raise money through Pennies the Digital Money Box, where customers can add a donation to their purchase at checkout.

Alongside fundraising Topps Tiles have recently launched our Companion Calls volunteering opportunity for colleagues who would like to directly support families affected by dementia.

What’s next

This year is Topps Tiles 60th anniversary and we are excited to celebrate this with them.

Topps Tiles Chief Executive Officer, Rob Parker, says:

Colleagues in the Topps Group have always been passionate about giving something back to the wider community through fundraising and active participation in charity events.

'We are delighted to be working with Alzheimer’s Society to make a positive difference to those with dementia, their carers and families, and I would like to thank our colleagues for their efforts and commitment, as well as customers who donate through the Pennies digital charity box scheme.'

Lois who took on the Peak District Trek26 with a group of colleagues who raised over £5,800 says:

'When I found out that Topps Tiles was going to be working with Alzheimer’s Society I was genuinely over the moon, I knew that as a company we could make a difference to people’s lives and have some fun whilst taking on challenges to help raise money for the charity.

'I am immensely proud that we support such a worthwhile cause close to so many people's hearts.'

TestRAMP and Alzheimer's Society

TestRAMP Building a Genomic Testing Marketplace

During the Covid pandemic, tech and social entrepreneur Mike Hudson founded not-for-profit TestRAMP. Set up as a marketplace for laboratory Covid PCR testing, TestRAMP  generated £2.5 million for good causes - including an incredible £500,000 towards Alzheimer’s Society’s dementia research and Covid pandemic response in 2021.

TestRAMP’s support for Alzheimer’s Society could not have come at a more urgent time. During the pandemic people living with dementia were amongst the hardest hit, and funding dementia research was very challenging. Over a quarter of all Covid deaths during the first lockdown were people with dementia. And for thousands more, the social isolation was devastating. Many people lost the ability to care for themselves, read, or even speak. Cut off from family and friends during lockdown, many lost all connection to the people they love. It was a desperate situation, with burned out carers and people with dementia left more vulnerable than ever before.

TestRAMP’s support helped our research continue and meant that people affected by dementia received the lifesaving help they desperately needed.

Since the pandemic, the TestRAMP team has started the charitable Mike Hudson Foundation, to help nonprofits bolster their research work by using AI.

Mike Hudson, Founder, TestRAMP

My family, like so many others, has been affected by Alzheimer’s Disease. We were therefore very pleased to be able to support Alzheimer’s Society during the pandemic. I hope my foundation can continue to support their research into finding a cure.

Kate Lee, CEO, Alzheimer’s Society

TestRAMP’s incredible donation could not have come at a more urgent time, helping ensure that people affected by dementia continued to receive the lifesaving support they so desperately needed during the crucial recovery period following Covid.

Alzheimer’s Society cannot exist without the vital investment of our partners like Mike Hudson and TestRAMP. TestRAMP’s model and inspiring vision has resulted in significant and vital donations to support people affected by dementia, and we are enormously grateful for their support.”
