Richard McCourt is an actor and presenter best known as one half of the very successful Bafta Award-winning comic duo, Dick and Dom.
Richard's Mum, Helen, sadly passed away in September 2010, aged 64, after a long battle with Pick's Disease, a form of dementia.
Richard, an Alzheimer's Society ambassador, has cycled from London to Paris (twice!), trekked along the Great Wall of China and ran the London Marathon to raise vital funds and awareness for Alzheimer's Society. He's also a regular at his local Memory Walk and is a Dementia Friend, launching the initiative's schools project to raise and understanding of dementia among younger people.
'I cared for my Mum who had dementia and understand how hard it is to look after someone with the condition.'
The Vice-Presidents, Patrons and Ambassadors programme was launched by the Alzheimer's Society at the House of Lords on Thursday 15 March 2007, with more than 30 influential people from the worlds of business, politics, science and the arts.
