Services offered

  • Balmoral Dementia Cafe
    Dementia Cafe providing an opportunity to gather information, meet others and share experiences. Guest Speakers and a member of staff from the memory service attend for additional information and support.
  • Balmoral Peer Support
    Peer Support Groups provides emotional support for those living with dementia their carers and families. An opportunity to talk about experiences and coping strategies
  • Carers Support Group
    This group is hosted by South Essex Partnership NHS Trust and is attended by the Alzheimer's Society Southend office. The aim is to provide information about dementia and memory problems and to give information on how to cope with the practical difficulties. The group provides guest speakers on various topics and also have visiting professionals. This group provides a place for people to come together to share their feelings, experiences and ideas.
  • Dementia and Carer Support
    The Southend and District office employs 2 Dementia Support Workers who will offer information and support by telephone, e-mail or in people's own homes or other suitable locations. Please contact Janice Farrant on the office telephone number for more details.
  • Hadleigh Lunch Group
    This group meets at the Castle Pub in Hadleigh and allows carers and cared for to have the opportunity to socialise, chat, have a meal, meet and make new friends in a supportive environment.
  • Information Provision
    Provides information packs, educational leaflets, self help information, publications and telephone support. Onward referral to the Dementia Support Worker for home visit, if required.
  • Leigh on Sea Dementia Cafe
    Provides an informal meeting place for people with dementia and their carers to come together where they can meet others in a similar situation and receive information and support from staff and visiting professionals. Guest speakers will attend and educational information is available.
  • Leigh on Sea Lunch Club
    The lunch group provides an opportunity to meet with others who may be experiencing similar difficulties to yourselves in a social and friendly environment. Please join us for a meal and a chat every 2nd Monday in the month.
  • Leigh on Sea Peer Support Group
    These groups are provided for either people with dementia or their carers. Within these groups participants can talk about their life experiences of dementia and its impact on their lives. The groups offer the chance to share information and to develop supportive networks outside of the group. Carers wishing to attend these sessions can request home care to provide support whilst they are attending. Please contact the office for further information if you require this service.
  • Members Meeting
    Monthly meeting held last Thursday in the month where people with dementia and their carers meet for a social evening with speakers etc. There is often talks, demonstrations and music. Held at the Harland Centre, Westcliff on Sea.
  • Memory Group
    Reminiscence Group for people with dementia. "Memory boxes" are introduced which promotes recognition and conversation. There is also a selection of activities, games and music enjoyed in each session. Carers are also able to stay at the group if they wish to.
  • Shoebury Dementia Cafe
    Cafe for people with dementia and their carers. Information available and guest speakers attending
  • Shoebury Peer Support Group
    These groups are provided for either people with dementia or their carers. Within these groups participants can talk about their life experiences of dementia and its impact on their lives.   • Westcliff Dementia Cafe
    This support group is in partnership with Jewish Care and offers a morning of social interaction, information, refreshments and a guest speaker.
  • Westcliff Peer Support Group
    This support group is in partnership with Jewish Care and provides an opportunity for people with dementia and their carers to come together to talk about their experiences of coping with dementia.
